In Australia, low back pain problems represented the second most common long-term condition during 2011-2012, with up to 9-10 Australians suffering low back pain at some point in their lives. (

There is now robust science-based evidence supporting the finding that a chiropractic developed method of lumbar traction may provide long-term relief to people suffering from low back pain, leg (radicular) pain with the added benefit of better nerve flow (nerve conductivity H-reflex).  (

As with most research investigating the effectiveness of chiropractic developed traction compared to spinal mobilisation, muscle exercises and cognitive therapy, the stronger proof of evidence of extension traction is seen at the one-year follow-up. Most randomized control trials that include a one-year follow-up where patients received only spinal mobilisation, exercise and cognitive therapy regressed back to where they started (worsened) whilst patients receiving extension traction obtained an on-going improvement.
After a diagnosis is made by Dr Epstein, Chiropractor confirming that a patient’s pain is mechanical, spinal manipulation will be performed with exercises and traction added at the appropriate time. ( (
